On one of my many visits to the Zoo, as I was taking pictures through the glass exhibits a girl was standing next to me, talking to one of her friends. She looked at me then told her friend, “I heard it’s impossible to get a good shot through the glass.”

Ohhh but on the contrary, it all depends on where you stand, in relation to the light reflecting off the glass, etc. etc.  As you can see above and below, these pictures were taken head on.

All you have to do is test out different angles against the glass and shoot until you find a good spot.  That’s all. Sometimes you get lucky enough where you can’t even tell there’s a piece of glass between you and a hungry looking lioness.

See? No glare. Of course, I can’t do anything about the drool…

Here are a few more photos for your enjoyment:

This was the saddest, loneliest rhino I’ve ever seen.

  1. COOL PHOTOS!! The rhino does look so sad and lonely. I love the giraffes. They are my mom’s favorite animals.

  2. You can also use a polarising filter to reduce glare.

  3. Memoria – The giraffes were adorable. The baby kept looking at our tram curiously, and when we started driving away it sort of chased after us.

    Marcus – Good point. I lost mine…. :(
