Does this look right to you?
Strawberries were 88 cents a quart at our local grocery store today, and any other time I would be furious that I only got around 9 strawberries per package. But when they are all pretty much the size of my hand…I had to purchase them just for their freak factor.
I thought by showing one in comparison to a penny would display the outrageous proportions…but it still doesn’t really get the point across that this is a circus freak of the berry world.
I know my hands are small (I wear a size 3.5 ring), but holding this was like holding an apple.
Just wanted to share.
Those are awesome! Are they sweet? My fear with huge strawberries is always that they taste “watered down.” I love strawberry season though :-) and plan on trying your no-icecream-maker-needed ice cream recipe soon.
Leslie – They weren’t that bad. Could’ve been sweeter I suppose, but with a sprinkle of sugar they were fine. Good luck on the ice cream! I hope you enjoy it :)
