Grilled Salmon with Brown Sugar and Soy Sauce

We found this tremendous deal at the supermarket this weekend, 2.7 lbs. of salmon for only $5.00. Curiously the label had it at a mere 0.7 lbs., but who am I to question it? I’m just a customer. A very hungry customer who loves fresh, flaky tender salmon.

Since we cook everything from breakfast to dinner on our grill now, I wanted to find a decent grilled salmon recipe that was salty and sweet. I find that if I use a sweet/salty combination  it masks the fishiness the salmon gives off entirely. If you don’t agree, or want to try another salmon recipe, I’ll post one for lemon dill grilled salmon next. But personally I prefer this one, which is why I’m posting it first.

Grilled Salmon with Brown Sugar and Soy Sauce

Ingredients:

  • 1 – 1.5 lbs. salmon
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil

Directions:

1) Whisk all ingredients for marinade together (garlic, salt, soy sauce, water, brown sugar, olive oil). Place salmon in large zip lock bag and pour marinade in; swish around to coat all sides. Place in refrigerator and marinate for 1-2 hours.

2) When grill is heated, place salmon on and grill 6-8 minutes per side, or until salmon is flaky. Serve and enjoy.

I only used half of this salmon in the photo. But what a great deal for $5, right?

  1. Yummy! I just found a great deal on salmon as well. Going to give this recipe a try tonight!

  2. I’d say you got a fantastic bargain and the recipe looks great. Love those grill marks.

  3. So, you knew the amount and price were wrong and you notified NO ONE. That is just an oversight on the grocer’s part and total DISHONESTY on your part. Shame on you!!

  4. Cate, did it ever occur to you that some stores understand they made a mistake and still let you pay the price that is marked? Sorry if my sarcasm made it sound like I stole from the store, but I do NOT like to be called dishonest.

Lmao poor Cate…. don’t mind her she sounds a little jealous that she didn’t find the same deal you did. Go you!!
